Dalmaji Hill and Moontan Road

Romance, y’all. Korea knows. Oh, it knows.

Moontan Road is famous for being a top pick for couples who want to take a romantic stroll beneath the stars

Romantic cafes with amazing ocean views? Check.
Dimly-lit forest paths? Check.
Pine trees? Check.
The distant sound of crashing waves? Check.

All you need is a guy or gal who doesn’t mind holding your hand and gazing lovingly into your eyes and telling you you’re amazing. Unless, of course, you decide to go down one of the trails off of the main path. In that case, you need a guy or gal who doesn’t mind being a human blockade to keep you from sliding down the muddy path and breaking everything. Yoontae and I experienced the latter. It’s exciting, but not ideal, so make sure you go during a dry season. Remember those dimly-lit paths? They’re interesting when it’s slippery.

All of that aside, it’s gorgeous and I recommend making a trip out there.
You can walk from Haeundae along the abandoned train tracks all the way to Songjeong, or you can cut through one of the forest paths (Moontan) to get up to Dalmaji. The path we took from Dalmaji to the tracks opened up to an outdoor gym, so just look for ahjussis on gazelle machines to head up. You’ll probably hear the trot music before you see them, so just follow your ears! Another option is to follow the main road along the coast until it turns into Dalmaji.
